Before Christmas I was asked by Monocle to photograph an exhibition hosted by Michael Corbin, US Ambassador the UAE. The purpose of the exhibition was to showcase the embassy’s collection of locally based artists.

As well as being a fan of Monocle, I am also a fan of some of the artists in the collection such as American transplant James Clar and young Emirati Maitha bin Demaithan.

Admittedly I”m more often hired onto shoots where I have more control than in this kind of setting which was a combination of portrait and event photography. Fortunately I managed to get the kind of shots Monocle needed and bagged a couple nice portraits of the Ambassador just before he ran off to a meeting.
